The origins of festivals

A festival is an event that is normally put on by a local community, which centers on and celebrates some unique aspect of that community.
Among many religions, a feast is a set of celebrations in honour of God or gods. A feast and a festival are historically interchangeable. However, the term "feast" has also entered common secularparlance as a synonym for any large or elaborate meal. When used as in the meaning of a festival, most often refers to a religious festivals rather than a film or art festival.

Samba in Cambridge research repor
Samba in Cambridge research report
Acro Iris Samba
There costumes are bright so they immediately draw your attention, each jumper and t-shirt has the same logo printed on it which gives it a sense of group identity. The people performing the samba look like there really enjoying themselves, it’s very lively there not just all stood still, there all dancing and getting into the performance. They have a woman at the front with a whistle to count everyone in and keep the beat going. By doing it in town , there are catching people attention and getting them involved in the performance.
Thudbox – Bal A
The group don’t have any pacific clothing on, giving them no sense of group identity. The group is much smaller than the other samba group and they are performing on stage rather than out on the street like the other group. They don’t have anyone counting them in, they seem very together and you can tell they know what they’re doing on stage. The lights look really good and go really well with the performance changing with the different beats.
